Digital Mail and news from the Digital Print Industry round out our ‘must read’ list of news articles for this week. Digital Mailbox Services has continued to be a topic that print and mailers are taking interest in; this is evident by the recent Pitney Bowes (and subsequently Volly) announcement and the recent release from Manilla on the number of bills and statements delivered since their Digital Mailbox Service launch.
On the digital print side of things, we take a look at how to work with White Ink, the attendance numbers from drupe (down from 2008) and what that means to the large trade show and how Adobe is working to enable more interactive workflows.
Did the drupa attendance affect the value of the show?

EMC World 2012: Transform the Way You Manage, Store and Use Content
EMC, an exhibitor at the aforementioned AIIM Conference, has been providing information technology services (including ECM solutions) for over three decades. Starting in Newton, Massachusetts in 1979, today EMC is a global provider of information technology solutions and partners with the best complementary technology companies around the Globe. This synergy in the market has lead to one of the most focused and well attended vendor conferences in the States—EMC World. This year, for 2012, the conference is back in Las Vegas at The Venetian from May 21-24. The theme: TRANSFORM IT+BUSINESS+YOURSELF.
The Power of Automation: The Reprint Process With & Without an ADF
The operation of a print and mailing environment can be very complex; that complexity can be amplified when operational processes are manual. To illustrate this let’s take a look at Don’s daily operations.
As an Operation Manager, Don’s responsibility is to oversee the receipt of print files from various systems, scheduling all of the work to ensure delivery times are met, managing the printing process, coordinating the inserting system and overseeing the mail delivery procedures. This means if a customer complains to the customer service department because they have not received their bill, it is Don’s job to figure out what happened to it (see A Day in the Life of an Operations Manager)
An easy task, right? In this case maybe not, especially without automation...
